It’s been hard not to notice the huge surge in success Latin music has had over the last few years, and it’s without doubt that Colombia has been the engine room for this recent upturn, with era-defining artists such as J Balvin and Karol G weaving regional genres into a new form that has redefined popular culture, and signalled a shift away from English lyrics being a prerequisite for a hit record.

This wider shift towards global subcultures has also been reflected in the underground, where DJs are now increasingly as likely to select a track from Bogota, Cali or Medellin as they are from Berlin, New York or London.

In a country that is currently blossoming out of the ashes of more troubled times to become a global tastemaker, it feels like the perfect time to celebrate this metamorphosis, with a showcase of the full spectrum of talent on offer from the Colombian scene. With a focus on the full spectrum of homegrown sounds, this show will arch from downtempo Cumbia and Champeta, through to Latin Trap, Dancehall, Neo-Perreo, Guaracha, and of course Colombia’s current biggest cultural export, Reggaeton.
