It was two years ago that Gost Zvuk turned in their contribution to our Upfront mix series. A memorable two-hour tapestry mixed by the label's founder low808 (aka Ildar Zaynetdinov), it guided us through the Moscow label's wide & varied stable –– & some of the most vital electronics coming out of Russia at the time.

Two years on & the label has doubled down into one of the most important collectives in Russia. It's a network that weaves together a whole swell of global influence while retaining an idiosyncratic Russian essence. As Zaynetdinov puts it himself, "GOST Zvuk isn't Soviet, nor is it post-Soviet — it reflects all of Russia". Across the label you get a rich spread that celebrates this spectrum: the core elements of Siberian techno, the warmth of imported Chicago house, the bizarre ambience of Soviet synths — all pushed forward with the futurism of Russia's great cultural pioneers.

Our first live broadcast with the label's full team has been lying in wait for months — but now the timing couldn't be more fitting. The show celebrates the crew's full reunion with Vtgnike & will take place in a traditional Soviet dacha — a wood-built seasonal home in the woodland fringes of outer Moscow.
