London: Mzansi Beat
Since Amapiano blew open the doors to South African club music globally, the world has been dancing to the beat of the Rainbow Nation. As a place that has a long-held love affair with House Music - possibly more universally so than any other country, the varieties of the SA sound are in constant evolution.
From the early days of Kwaito, up to Bacardi, Gqom and Amapiano, through to the latest evolutions of 3 Step, Afro Tech and the broad Afro House umbrella, South African House has become a dominant sound, having also taken deep roots in London, without doubt one of it’s most fervent global hubs.
For this event, we celebrated this evolution, from the OGs to the New School, from the South African natives to the UK artists picking up the baton and pushing things in new directions. On Thursday 2nd October, we dance to the Mzansi beat.
